from the author:

thank you so much for visiting my blog. it’s been fun and i see no reason why you should stop even after my blog has moved to http://seissa.jugem.jp

it’s really no issue, simply change your bookmark and links and if you don’t feel like it.. you can always click up there to go to my new home (which i really do hope is final. i mean seriously)

see ya all at my new place and let the fun continue 🙂 which means more of fukuyama masaharu/koh+/shinhwa/galileo/ahn son saeng.

… for air, that is because masha did the FULL version of vs ~ chikaku to kairaku no rasen ~ live and he did it with GLASSES.

mslive.jpg

masha with guitar AND glasses… now if that’s not HOT, i really have no idea what is. with the glasses on, it’s as though my dream about GALILEO featuring yukawa sensei playing guitar with a band as one of his many talents has come true. hurhur. masha wore glasses for his tokyo mv too but it’s somewhat different cuz that was a ballad.

mslive2.jpg

oh well, no more glasses after that for kiss shite but still looking as hot, nonetheless!

KOH+ — KISSして (僕らの音楽 07/12/07)
Fukayama Masaharu — vs ~知覚と快楽の螺旋~ (僕らの音楽 07/12/07)

back to the performance, well i preferred this second performance. i hope i’m not the only one to find shibasaki kou becoming more confident and at ease when performing this song in bokura no ongaku than in the FNS Kayousai. well, after all it was shibasaki’s first ever performance at the FNS Kayousai and first ever for KOH+ as well. guess the pressure is there so it’s nice to see her loosen up for the second one.

as for masha, oh well.. what can i say. perfect perfect perfect.

i’m still trying to come to terms with his hotness, it’s scorching my sanity.

alright, ’nuff of masha for time being, i know it’s time to get back to my travelogue! hehe.. only at day 4.. my speed indeed… S-L-O-W.

what to do.. now that i have so many distractions. hurhur.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

day 4

another day of rushing, we were planning to go to osaka today. we still have the famous inari taisha to cover before leaving for osaka so we started the day early with a hearty breakfast at macs at the jr kyoto station~

P1000913
mac’s ebi fillet! i hope they will bring it here, it’s yummy!

kinda hilarious though, we almost took the wrong train again when we wanted to go to inari. inari is only two stops away but for some strange reason, the announcement in the train didn’t mention the stop at all. sensing something wrong, i went to the train master and indeed, we have to go to another platform. good thing we did, or we would end up at nara. that’s like another city altogether!

being only two stops away, we reached inari in less than ten minutes.

P1000930 P1000926

the whole place rocks cuz it’s soooo near the train station (yay, less walking!)

P1000932 P1000933
this archway is all too familiar~

P1000939 P1000940

it seemed that the 357 festival was on all around japan (where kids of ages 3, 5 and 7 go to temples and pray for good health and intelligence), so many cute kids around!

P1000950 P1000953
かわいいですねぇ~~~~~~~~~

P1000956 P1000958
P1000963 P1000969

the temple is famous for its whole stretch of 1000 archways which goes all the way up into the inari mountains. but of course, that’s a bit too difficult for us. it really is very very high up.

P1000980 P1000995
P1000998 P1000996
looks like it’s neverending…

but we decided that since we were here, at least we should go halfway into the woods. we did, and we came across this really nice lake.

P1010010 P1010020

inari.jpg <- a nice auntie took for us =D

apparently, grilled sparrow is a famous delicacy of inari and trust me, i really really wanted to try when i heard about it. but when i saw the rows of sparrow sprawled across the fire, roasted into what seemed almost like roasted pigs.. i took a step back and changed my mind. fine, i’m a coward. sue me.

after inari, it’s back to jr kyoto and all the way to osaka. we took the rapid jr and it took us about an hour to reach shin-osaka. we didn’t quite know where to go in osaka but osaka castle was our first destination (my knowledge of osaka is sadly limited to osaka-jo and shinsaibashi. HAHA)

look at that wonderful painting!

P1010047 Photo0219
i’m so near the castle!

P1010049 P1010052

coincidentally, they also have a chrysanthemum festival~

P1010061
look at how they bloom!!!

P1010062
bad english instance 2

Photo0225
this picture was taken with my phone camera. and it was all because of this naughty three boys who were by the fountain. my camera was dying and i wanted to use the last breath of its battery to take this picture. but the boy who held my camera had to wait because his senpai suddenly went into the fountain to pick up a football!!!! grrrrr. my camera totally died during the wait and thus i had to use my handphone. grrrr.. that irritating senpai!!!

P1010066
look at that! a pet otter? wth?

after touring osaka castle and its surroundings, we made our way to shimsaibashi, so called the shibuya of tokyo, it seems.

Photo0256 Photo0259
we’re here! (ok i’m acting stupid)

Photo0236 Photo0232
dinner is : okonomiyaki.. at osaka! the origins!!!

forgive me for the lack of pictures at shimsaibashi, my camera was afterall, dead.

shimsaibashi was okay.. not much things to see. harajuku is still the best place to shop and eat~ so after a while of walking, we went back to kyoto..

but not before a visit to a real izakaya!!!

Photo0274
yakitori place just beside j-hoppers… ROCKs! THEIR YAKITORI IS GOOD!!!

Photo0272
a toast! kirin lager beer is sooooooo yummy!

see, xiaodi & xiaoping. i do drink beer, i’m just choosy.

hohoho.. after so many days of walking and rushing, how better than to enjoy ourselves at a good onsen? so watch out for that…

due to the sudden appearance of some distractions (read: masha), i didn’t realize my travelogue stopped… a bit. what’s more, i had someone point an umbrella at me, ordering me to update my blog. and posts that’s not about my trip is not considered as updates. yes, that’s you.. thomas the martian~! hahaa.. i dedicate this post to you la. hahaa.

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

day 3

the overnight bus ride, while cheap… was horribly uncomfortable! definitely grassland tour buses to genting highlands which i took years back was much better. with no space for my legs to stretch, i wonder if i would contract DVT (deep vein thrombosis) from the bus ride instead of the plane ride. hurhurhur.

Photo0184
taken at 3am when we stopped for a break… we look shagged.

the bus finally reached kyoto at 6.30am and it was freaking cold. too bad for us, the j-hoppers hostel would only open its doors at 8am! with nowhere to go, we decided to park ourselves at this little rundown cafe just across the road for breakfast and shelter from the freezing winds.

P1000757 P1000759

it’s SOOOOO  retro, we felt like we went back to the 60s. the owner, a middle aged lady had her dog in the shop but the dog was barking like crazy. nowadays, i can’t stand barking dogs (cuz my one at home doesn’t). thank god she kept the dog away. the cafe was cosy and warm, just what we needed.

P1000760 P1000761
milk, toast and tamago~ the milk is hot. i thought that was strange.

with so much time to spare before the hostel opens, we took our time enjoying our breakfast and watching the morning news. japanese morning programmes are fun to watch. there was this man who was murdered in his hospital room and the morning programme just dedicated like half an hour just analyzing this case, complete with a floor plan of the hospital and possibilities of what happened. then they will this whole group of hosts who would just voice their opinions and share their views. so interesting.

so finally it was 8~! and we went to the hostel to get rid of our bags, but horror horror! we can only check in at 3pm~!! that’s another 7 hours away!! left with no choice, and not wanting to waste our time, we decided that we shall use the time to visit kiyomizu temple.

P1000763 P1000768
P1000767P1000770
kyoto is really really a step back in time compared to tokyo…

kiyomizu temple is a place where i’ve always wanted to visit ever since i took simon avenell’s japanese studies module. i saw pictures of how it blends into the mountainous landscape around it and ever since, i’ve been wanting to come here. fact is, when i finally reached the place, i couldn’t believe i was finally here after 4 years! (i took the module in 2003 first sem hahaa)

P1000813 P1000814
P1000805 P1000779

it was so crowded though, we couldn’t help but think that half the kyoto population was there. and probably all students. we saw primary school kids, secondary and probably also high school students.

P1000821 P1000820P1000824 P1000823

P1000827 P1000831

other than the beautiful landscape, another thing that really interest me was their jiju jinja (did i spell that correctly?). it’s the shrine that houses the famous love stones…  it’s said that if you can walk from one stone to the other, that’s 18 metres apart, with your eyes closed, you will have love luck. i tried! and i succeeded! so where’s my love luck!?

P1000840P1000843

P1000848
never quite figured out why ‘shun lu’. on the way? smooth road?

anyway we took the ‘smooth road’ and found a little eatery. it’s a great place, we could rest and have some ZENZAI! i’m a fan of zenzai ever since i first tried it at MOF marina square.

P1000852 P1000853

P1000855
本物だ~ ぜんざい~~ 熱くても… おいしい~~~~~~~~~!

my trip to japan has concluded: only cold zenzai exist in singapore. zenzai in japan is hot. anyway, i tried zenzai again another time in japan (ooh i forget where and when ><) but this kiyomizu one is the best~

Photo0188

next to the eatery is the famous is where the ‘kiyomizu’ is (kiyomizu = 清水 = clear water) .. it has 3 separate falls and each represents wisdom, fortune and health. but sorry i have no idea which means what, i drank from the middle one.

P1000856 P1000857
a bunch of korean aunties were pushing and shoving behind us >_<|||

after leaving kiyomizu, the real fun began. the whole stretch of road outside was full of shops where all the omiyages were .. cakes, pastries, all sorts of ornaments and snacks. we had such a hard time trying to find what we like cuz there were so many to choose from!

P1000875 P1000873
look at that big ice cream!

by the time we finished touring kiyomizu and all the stores outside, it was about 1 plus. we went down to gion, in hope of seeing some geishas but sad to say, we didn’t see any. worse, we were too tired to continue. we decided to head back to the hostel after lunch and take a quick nap at the common area until we could check into our own room.

P1000882 P1000884
our room and my bed for two nights!

blame it on the rushed schedule, we took a nap and by the time we woke up, it was so dark already!!!!!!!!!! but actually it was only 6.30pm. haha. knowing that their shops all close early, we’re left with only the jr kyoto station to walk around.

P1000886 P1000891

P1000897
the kyoto tower. guess they have a tower in every city?

P1000901
dinner for the night at lawson’s convenience store — omu rice!

we went back pretty early and i happened to catch okada junichi’s new drama sp on tv. he’s cute ^^

okay.. that’s all for the third day. stay tuned for the next day~~ (as usual, more pics at my flickr album)

kiss me!

Posted on: November 29, 2007

KOH+

KISS して (kiss me~)

so i can’t comprehend myself
it makes me want to cry, it’s so much fun
i’m still searching for the equation
that will give me the answer to happiness

the power of love is right here
because even on nights when you can’t laugh, when you can’t cry
i am here supporting you

hey, i will give you everything there is
to the other side of me that i’ve held back, never shown to anyone

my naked lips, KISS して

it’s a question that everyone has
it’s difficult but it feels good

(and the reason for our encounter)
today, the dynamics of love is also changing

you are laughing at me, who’s like this
but i will solve this difficult problem of life, just wait and see

hey, i will protect everything there is
to the real you that’s never been shown to anyone

and i give to you

my naked lips, KISS して~

(and the reason behind it?)
the little universe in my heart is expanding even now

the power of love is right here
because even on nights when you can’t laugh, when you can’t cry
i am here supporting you

and i give to you
my naked lips
our lips in love,  KISS して

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *~

this is the theme song to galileo (i hope it’s obvious that i’m really crazy over it… actually i’m crazy over masha. haha.. and it’s not only now. you can check my archives in 2003 when his beauty or the beast aired) and i’m so loving its cheery mood. the song is soooo masha (well he wrote it) but i’ve never seen him so punkish before in the mv. perhaps because he did mostly ballads… oh well, i’m not complaning. he’s looking soo good in the mv!

masha said that this song is written in utsumi’s point of view (shibasaki kou’s character in the drama) and it’s brilliant. i can totally see it as a love song dedicated from utsumi to yukawa. hurhurhur.

the ending credits is also wonderful. as the both of them meet at yukawa’s lab, all the physics equation surrounding them suddenly turns to flowers and butterflies~ i can only see it as a parallel to yukawa’s change in him due to utsumi’s appearance along time~

watch it here > galileo ending credits

back to the song, masha and shibasaki kou is known as KOH+ for their collaboration. i’m starting to think that project groups/collaborations tend to have more fun.. think anyband, daniel henney+alex, clazziquai even (they’re still calling themself a ‘project’), ‘m-flo loves…’ series and many clazziquai+epik high collab tracks.. perhaps it’s during collabs and projects that the singers can attempt something very different from their usual style (definitely, masha don’t do this genre often!)

given that this drama has only 10 eps, i MAY just do a ep by ep review just for the sake of promoting and making my admiration for masha public. haha.

happy birthday

as i have until february 2008 before ahn son saeng’s new drama is aired, i figured i had to look for some distractions in the meantime. what can be better than venturing into familiar grounds?

japanese dramas, that is…

galileo.jpg

and this is what i’m watching now… galileo. fact is, i saw the poster of this drama at shibuya (i think) but i didn’t think of watching it until now because i never liked shibasaki kou much. good thing i did, because it’s such a brilliant show, i’m already captivated by the 7th minute into the show. and shibasaki kou is half the reason why! she finally gets rid of her gloomy face and plays someone more klutzy and amusing!

it also helps that:
– the other lead is fukuyama masaharu. just look at him. he never aged!
– it’s adapted from a novel by higashino keigo, one of my favourite japanese detective novel author.
– it’s a detective/mystery. other than doctor shows, my fav. has to be detective kind.
– it’s fukuyama masaharu. oh i said that before.

fukuyama plays yukawa manabu, a gifted physicist and an associate professor at the teito university. he is roped in by his classmate, kusanagi to solve mysteries that are seemingly strange and impossble. even though he’s gifted in physics… rules the squash courts, he sucks at every other thing esp. interaction with other humans, thus earning him the nickname weirdo galileo. (galileo by the way, is a real scientist, and has been called ‘the father of modern physics.. kudos to wiki!) shibasaki as utsumi is a rookie cop, eager to solve all these mysteries and look up to kusanagi a lot. when kusanagi got transferred, he introduced utsumi to yukawa.. but obviously, the two simply don’t click.

i can’t stop laughing at his weirdness.

yukawa: are you upset about something?
utsumi: you can tell?
yukawa: are you mad at me?
utsumi: scientists really don’t understand people’s feelings!
yukawa: feelings are illogical. it’s a waste of time to try to understand something illogical. for example, you are dog poo.
utsumi: what?!
yukawa: you are poo. so you stink. would anyone think about why poo stinks when the poo is in front of him? you see poo, you either get rid of it or walk away. it’s a waste of time to think why poo stinks.
utsumi: are you saying i’m dog poo?
yukawa: yes. don’t make me repeat myself.

is it possible to carry out a dialogue like that if the other party is not a weirdo?

yukawa: what is that kid doing (referring to a kid looking up on the sky at the crime scene)
utsumi: you ask her yourself.
yukawa: … i hate them.
utsumi: ?!
yukawa: children are illogical.

and that’s just the first ep! i can expect so much fun in the later episodes. perhaps i can give a better review later into the drama, cuz i’m so mesmerized by fukuyama now.

but he’s still only just a distraction in the meantime ><
